SPEAKER BIO

Dr. Nicholas Ellis, a visionary and strategic thinker, is a second-generation homeschooler and founder and CEO of Christian Halls International (CHI). He is passionate about returning the responsibility for student formation to families and churches. His work with CHI focuses on building a global network of local, mentor-led communities of Christ-centered higher education that are academically excellent, debt-free, and discipleship-focused. He has a Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Oxford, where he taught New Testament and Greek at Wycliffe Hall.

Most recently, Nick gave an impassioned address to a large audience at the Believers Summit in Florida, where he shared his vision of the transformative impact that the Christian Halls approach can have on a community.

Click here for a slide deck overview of the CHI approach that has proven immensely successful in Brazil and in the US.

The vision for Christian Halls International began when Dr. Nicholas Ellis dreamt of replicating the rich formation he found as a graduate student in the Oxford college tutorial method, but on a large scale, in local communities across the globe.

The CHI vision seeks to have local faith communities govern the formation and flourishing of the next generation for the glory of God through this tutorial approach. To achieve this vision, the CHI mission focuses on returning responsibility for personal formation to the family and local faith community. With this approach, students receive whole-person formation from certified mentors and achieve accredited academic outcomes through academic partnerships operated by a network of trusted implementation groups and Christian Hall institutions. These partnerships include selected colleges, universities, and seminaries.

The proven benefits of the CHI are significant and include:

Strengthened Faith Communities:
By equipping faith communities with the tools of intellectual, spiritual, and vocational formation, the CHI approach enables these communities to govern the shaping of the next generation for the benefit of everyone.

Holistic Formation:
The CHI educational philosophy is grounded in a holistic approach that recognizes the importance of nurturing the mind, spirit, and vocation. Through its tutorial-based education model, CHI provides a comprehensive framework that promotes intellectual curiosity, spiritual depth, and the development of practical skills to enrich lives and communities.

Individual Growth, Collective Impact:
The CHI mission is centred on the belief that every individual's growth contributes to the community's collective well-being. With an unwavering focus on Christ-centered principles, the CHI approach seeks to guide all those involved on a journey toward a life that is both academically enriched and spiritually and vocationally fulfilling.

Plan to join us on August 16th to hear Nick lay out the vision of Christian Halls International, share some of the many exciting success stories, and explore ways that this approach might enhance the emerging Christian Educational Ecosystem that is forming in our region.

A concluding word from Christian Halls International:

For the Glory of God:
“Above all, we do this work for the glory of God. In every aspect of our mission, we seek to honor and magnify His name, recognizing that the fulfillment of our mission is an act of worship and service to the Creator.”
